Few words in Indian astrology cause as much worry as Sade Sati. It deserves respect, but not fear.
What it is
Sade Sati means "seven and a half". It is the time Saturn takes to move through three signs: the one before your Moon sign, your Moon sign itself, and the one after it. Saturn spends about two and a half years in each, so the whole journey lasts about seven and a half years. Most people meet it two or three times in a lifetime.
The three phases
- Rising phase: Saturn enters the sign before your Moon. Expenses, sleep or a sense of being stretched can come up. A good time to simplify.
- Peak phase: Saturn passes over your Moon. Responsibilities feel heavier and emotions more serious. This is often when people grow the most.
- Setting phase: Saturn moves to the sign after your Moon. Pressure eases, and the results of patient effort start to show.
Why it is not a curse
Saturn is the planet of discipline, time and lasting results. Its transit asks for maturity, not suffering. How it actually feels depends on your whole chart: Saturn's own strength, your running dasha, and the support of other planets. Many people build their most solid careers, homes and habits during Sade Sati.
What helps
- Keep steady routines for sleep, food and movement.
- Take on responsibility willingly and finish what you start.
- Be careful with debt and big risks; slow and sure wins.
- Serve others in small ways. Kindness to elders and workers is a traditional Saturn remedy.
- If you find comfort in prayer or mantra, use it. Remedies are optional, never a requirement.
